Tenant Led Improvements 2007
04/01/2007
Our Tenant led improvement scheme gives tenants an opportunity to apply for an environmental improvement to their scheme/estate/neighbourhood which will benefit the majority of tenants living there.
Examples include improved landscaping, parking barriers, seating areas, or crime reduction measures such as fencing, footpath diversions, lighting, or CCTV.
How do we apply?
• Application Form - An application form should be requested from your area office or you can download one here, once tenants have agreed on a particular improvement.
• Consulting others on your estate – When you send us the completed application form, you must also provide evidence of how you have consulted other residents on your estate. This might include the results of a survey, minutes of a consultation meeting, or a list of signatures of people supporting the project. The consultation must indicate that the majority of tenants are in favour of the application and that the majority will benefit from the improvement. Care must be taken to ensure that everyone who wishes to is able to take part in the consultation. Information is available on how to make consultations accessible to all.
• Ask your Housing Officer for help - Your housing officer can help you to decide how best to consult other residents on your estate. They will also help you to fill in your application form. They can advise you if your project has any hidden long term costs to residents such as increased service charges.
• Timescales – the deadline for submissions is 30 March 2007.
