Right to Buy

In brief, to qualify for the scheme:

  • You must be a Secure Tenant.
  • Your Rent Account must be up to date.
  • You must have been renting for at least 2 years or 5 years, depending on the date you became a tenant.

 
If you qualify for the scheme:

  • You will be asked to complete a Form.
  • Your property will be valued, to obtain an open market valuation.
  • We will calculate the amount of discount percentage that you are entitled too, depending on how long you have been a public-sector tenant.
  • We will assess the value any major improvements to your property during the last eleven years, if required.
  • We will calculate and inform you of the discounted purchase price.
  • You must have enough income to pay for a mortgage or enough savings to buy the property outright.
